What to find

Please find the following item at GBC library:

1) Locate and download Chapter 1, entitled “Visible and Invisible” from this book:

Barkan, Leonard. Mute Poetry, Speaking Pictures. Princeton: Princeton University Press, 2013, pp. 1-26.

How to use the library’s online resources to find materials:

First, if you are not logged into the new GBC “My Apps” portal, you will need to login: https://www.gbcnv.edu/myapps/Links to an external site.

Note: you should already be logged in if you are logged in to Web Campus.
After you are logged in, go to the GBC Library website here

From here you can do a few things.
1) Search the Library Online Catalog (scroll down and click on “Library Online Catalog Links to an external site.”)
The Library online catalog can be a great way to find sources.
The trick to finding good sources is to find “keywords” for your topic. You will want to try different keywords and be patient. Researching can take some time.
2) Another thing you can do is search the library’s online Databases (scroll down and click on “Databases”Links to an external site.). After this, click on either JSTOR or EBSCO to begin searching the major databases held by GBC library.
The library’s online databases are subscriptions to online journals and periodicals. These are often scholarly sources, but you will need to evaluate each source to determine whether it is scholarly or not.
